Coffs Harbour is probably the state’s top
coastal destination for serious paddlers, being within striking distance of
several rivers, including the Nymboida and west-flowing Gwydir – both
spectacular wilderness trips with challenging rapids. In southern
New South Wales, sections of the Murrumbidgee River and the Headwaters of the Murray also
offer good paddling, while the Murray-Darling system provides more relaxed, less
technical outings.
