Ossies Outback 4WD Tours - You need a sense of adventure and a reasonable level of fitness. Travel insurance is not included. We strongly recommend that passengers arrange their own travel insurance. Ossies operates in remote areas, itineraries may vary according to road/weather/safety conditions. Four wheel Drive along Owen Springs Station Tracks & in the Hugh River where the Explorer John Stuart rode in 1860. Walk around the ruins of Owen Springs first Homestead. Afternoon Tea among River Gums, Birds & solitude. Light Meal of chicken & champagne at Sunset. Personalised Touring. Experienced Bush Guide. 4 Day Tour: DESERT to the ROCK Simpson Desert to Uluru (Ayers Rock). Day 1: We leave the 'Big Smoke' of Alice behind and head for the hospitality and serenity of Molly's Homestead in the Simpson Desert. Be prepared to see mirages and climb red sand dunes that you've only dreamt about as we traverse the Southern Hemisphere's largest private cattle station. You'll see Australia's hardest wood at Waddy Tree reserve. We head south across a Gibber (stoney) desert plain to Finke River floodout on the NT-SA border where you'll be amazed!!. Mt Dare Homestead, a remote oasis for man and bird in far north SA. Dinner, bed and breakfast in the homestead offers the opportunity to mingle with the locals and Simpson Desert travellers. Day 2:Early risers will be rewarded with plenty of Flora & Birdlife around the Mt Dare Homestead. After a Homestead breaky we travel through Witjira National Park to Dalhousie Thermal Pools. Swim and relax in the thermal spring. Onto nearby Dalhousie Homestead ruins where an early Pioneer operated a sheep station as early as 1872. You will begin to feel the remoteness of the desert as the day unfolds and we travel in 'real' camel country as the Afghans did over 100 years ago. We return for a relaxing evening, good food, a few 'coldies' and Outback yarns! Day 3: A 'yummy' Homestead breakfast then we say goodbye to Mt Dare. We travel through New Crown to obscure Charlotte Waters billabong and adjacent Telegraph Station Ruins. See the vastness of the Simpson Desert as we journey to the aboriginal township of Finke and many other historical points of interest throughout the day including the centre of Australia. You'll enjoy a Swaggie's campfire lunch and billy tea amongst sand dunes and Mulga scrub at the Lambert Centre. Kulgera Roadhouse for a refreshment stop before our final leg to Yulara the resort town for the icon Uluru (Ayers Rock).  Cabin Accommodation. Day 4: You'll have the chance to view sunrise at Uluru and a base walk or climb. Next stop Kata Tjuta ( Olgas) for The Valley of the Winds walk. Return to the Aboriginal Cultural Centre where you will learn plenty of the local Indigenous Dreamtime. We'll enjoy Lunch in the Uluru National Park before departure to Alice Springs where we finish a great tour!
