Carrowong Wildlife
Ecotours - Our world-famous wildlife tours focus on the unique, rare and
endangered wildlife of tropical Australia and continue to lead the way in
rainforest ecotourism. Our Wildlife Mountain Safari is essential for the
serious wildlife enthusiast, while A Night in the Rainforest, a nocturnal
spotlighting walk, reveals the great biodiversity of these ancient rainforests.
The rainforests of tropical northern Australia are known for their spectacular
wildlife, amazing varieties of birdlife, including the giant and endangered
Cassowary bird, marsupials such as Tree Kangaroos, Gliders, Possums, Bandicoots,
and the smaller Kangaroos such as Pademelons, Wallabies, Rat-Kangaroos and
Bettongs, unique reptiles such as the Forest Dragon and Jungle Python, the
beautiful Ulysses Butterfly or enormous Hercules Moth, the world's largest.
These are just a few of the amazing creatures to be seen when you visit our part
of the world. Excluding birds, the majority of Australian wildlife is nocturnal,
so the best time to see these animals in their natural environment is from dusk
onwards. This makes it possible to undertake other activities such as diving
during the day, and take a wildlife tour during the evening. All of our tours
are led by local wildlife specialists. Carrowong Wildlife Ecotours is committed
to protecting the wildlife of Australia's northern tropics. 10% of all proceeds
go towards the operation and maintenance of the Carrowong Fauna Sanctuary, a
privately-funded wildlife sanctuary dedicated to the conservation and
rehabilitation of native rainforest wildlife. We know the rainforest, it's where
we live, and our original wildlife tours continue to lead the way in rainforest
ecotourism.
