North-eastern Victoria is one of the country’s best areas for hang-gliding and paragliding, with the big, grassy hills around Bright offering several schools and ideal conditions for learners. Once you’ve earned your wings, head for Mount Buffalo, which has a launch ramp at the lip of the Buffalo Gorge and a clear landing area near Porepunkah. The other main centre for these forms of non-powered flight is the area around Torquay and Bells Beach.
