Tasmania is a popular area for cycle touring on sealed roads, and
there are great opportunities for off-road riding as well. The forest
trails on the slopes of Mount Wellington offer challenging biking, while
less steep terrain can be found in the forests to the east of
east coast has much to offer, with the best area being from Coles Bay
north to Mount Elephant. Varied technical riding can be found on the west
coast as well: for example, on the old road from Granville Harbour south toward Trial Harbour.
Because much of
Tasmania is hilly, almost any dirt road provides interesting
mountain biking – the more minor and eroded the road, the better.
