A popular in the southern part of the state, from
Perth east to Esperance. Elsewhere, the heat and lack of shade is
oppressive, and back roads are often either very rocky or sandy, neither of
which makes for enjoyable cycling.
Perth-based cyclists head for the hills near
Midland and the downhill and cross-country trails around Dwellingup, 50 miles to
the south. There is a highly active mountain biking club at Bunbury, which makes
the most of the varied terrain in the forests of the south-west.
