With its long coastline, indented with inlets and lagoons and
numerous coastal rivers and lakes,
Victoria has tremendous potential for
sea kayaking and the sport is consequently popular. The bays, beaches and
islands of Wilsons Promontory provide all kinds of challenges, while the
waterways of Lakes Entrance offer more sheltered paddling. Mallacoota Inlet,
close to the
New South Wales border, is another popular base and ideally placed
for expeditions to the varied coastline and enchanting scenery of Croajingolong
National Park to the south.
